Since I can't really tell if wires make a difference, I'm just going on appearance. Who makes nice looking cables/speaker wires?

Len. Appearance is based on personal tastes. It would also cost you a lot of money to buy those really nice boutique cables. Why don't you just tell us how much money you're planning/willing to spend and we'll just recommend what we think is the best. [IMG]

At least you've identified the most important thing about high end cables/speaker wire.[IMG]

That was a funny link. The best this year yet! Price? Well, how about no more than monster cable prices? Howard, left a +1 on the good trader's list for ya! I'm still interested in nice looking cables, though. What are the "boutique" brands anyway?

    Len,

Which Monster cables? Some are affordable, some are outrageous. Most are mediocre in performance. CDN prices? If yes then you can do much better for a lot less.

e.g. 2m Monster 3 component cables sell for around $244.00 cdn

For approx $130 cdn you can get a top of the line Belden 1694a component cable set from Rhinocables.com

To me the choice was easy. Greater performance for a lot less!

IMO much harder to compare speaker cables and interconnects.

I choose to use retail speaker cables (Nordost) and a mix of DIY and Rhinocables offerings for IC, sub and digital coax use. I have retired all my retail cables and passed them onto friends.I do not buy cables based on appearance but base my purchasing decisions on specs, reputation and what goes into the cable assy.
