I got it last week, and started playing it this weekend. Good but not great graphics, with an item combination system for weapons, armor, and even food (it's called COOKING at camp!

Currently at the Sewers under the Castle with Lang at Level 24... Just ordered the strategy guide so hopefully I won't be lost in the sewers for too long...

Woo: I'm planning on getting this game eventually - I really liked Legaia on PSX until I got my butt handed to me by that 3-headed dragon. Is the combat system similar?

Exactly the same, more or less. When you defend in L2: DS(Legaia 2: Dual Saga), you don't raise spirit or your AP bar. Instead, you just cut damage in 1/2. Also, you don't get "fractional" ap bars/space - you just get the number of art blocks (not AP bar but blocks) increase at the appropriate level. Your weapons can be combined for better stats and features as well...

There are now more mini-games, and more characters than just Noa, Vahn, and Gala (I think a total of 5 but I am still playing the game.). Graphics are better (better texturing and proportions), and music is the same. The other thing is that you can set up camp, and cook to up your stats, and you have origins instead of Ra Seru. Magic is different since your Origin gains them either by leveling up rather than through use or by killing enemies with your Ra-Seru.

Basically, it has more games, more 'customization' on both armor/weapons, food, and has a nice premise too.

Try it - you won't regret it.

Just popping in. Due to my irrational fear of NOT wanting to miss stuff, I started over a few times - and leveled up some more. Currently back at NOHL before the eclipse.

My levels are
LANG at 39 - 8 art blocks
MAYA at 34 - 7 art blocks
KAZAN at 39 - 8 art blocks

I want them at LVL 40 before
the eclipse.

Much harder than the first game. Levelling alone I feel isn't enough. And the minigames! Arrgh Dein seriously is one annoying character....

Anyway, people should try this. I will get Suikoden 3 this week or next...

Arrghh too much game/ too little time!

Good lord. How am I supposed to have time for all these RPGs? I'm still working on Kingdom Hearts, and I'm waiting to play:

Legaia 2
Suikoden 3
Grandia Extreme
Duel Hearts
.hack

There's another thread in this forum about it, or just use the coupon code 906642. Or wait 'til sunday, when they should have a coupon in their weekly ad.

Finished the game, and here is my 3 word review (at least as versus Legend of Legaia)

SHORTER, HARDER, BETTER.

SHORTER refers to the game length. You could finish this in probably 50 or so hours. Add in a few more hours for leveling up. Add even more if you want a perfect game.

HARDER refers to the difficulty of the game in general.
* BOSSES - You really do have to power level for at least the early bosses. The last boss is no slouch, but was a piece cake for me (with certain accessories, the game becomes very easy).
* MINI GAMES - It also refers to mini-games. Not only do you have a SOL like casino/battle equivalent, but you have a minigame/sidequests that are quite difficult and very frustrating.
* NORMAL ENEMIES - Are also very very difficult later in the game. ELEMENTAL and STATUS EFFECTS can wipe out your party quite easily, and they affect you from early on in the game. Some accessories help here as well, but with each status effect being quite debilitating, the normal enemies are very tough.

BETTER refers to the battle system, which uses the same system as Legaia but much improved.

* BATTLE SYSTEM - Guard no longer charges the AP bar - nor does it 1/2 damage. You now do moves to GAIN AP, and have several classes of moves. More normal arts, Super arts, Hyper Arts, and two new additions, Mystic Arts (most powerful uses MP and AP) and Variable Arts (perfrom a devastating combination with two characters - even more damage than hypers.)
* CUSTOMIZATION - Cooking and learning recipes that can affect your stats for a short time, Combining accessories, Armor, and weapons for better skills and strength, and items for the best stats all make this a unique and fun game.

Story/plot is a bit mediocre, and the voice acting - well, in my opinion - is still apocryphal. But all the other aspects are there, and make this a game worth getting.
