I am just trying to get a baseline for the amount of discount from canadian list people have been able to get. I have an offer for a pair of Studio 60's (laminate), 20's(laminate), Studio CC, Pw-2200 for $3,000 CAN. What have others been able to get on the Reference Speakers? Please provide prices in Canadian $ and also what finish the speakers were (laminate / Veneer).

Thanks for your help!

Several years ago, I had paid CDN$2200, 14% taxes included, for Studio/60 V.1 (floor demos, slightly blemished, dark cherry laminate), Studio/20 V.1 (new, dark cherry laminate), and CC-450 (new, graphite).

I paid $1,200 CDN for my $60's

The Studio CC was $400.

The 20's were selling for $800, which is what I paid

for the ADP's.

These are before Taxes and in CDN $.

I got the following prices from a dealer back in December. Studio/60 $1500, Studio/CC $600 and Studio/20 $800. All in Canadian loonies :) and all in the laminate finish. The dealer told me these were his list prices.

a dealer around here gave me these prices:

Laminated Veneer

Paradigm Studio 60 1450.00/pr 2000.00/pr

Paradigm Studio 80 1800.00/pr 2400.00/pr

Paradigm Studio 100 2400.00/pr 3000.00/pr

Paradigm Studio CC 600.00 ea

those are his list prices.

however, he quoted me the PW-2200 at 800-900, but I got it for 670 at another store, a Stereo Plus, where they give big discounts. therefore, you should be able to get much better prices than those i listed.

John,

Could you tell me where (address if possible) you bought your speakers in Ontario? I live in the Cleveland area and I am considering driving up to Ontario and getting some Paradigm speakers in the Monitor Series.

Thanks

Just bought some Paradigm Monitors

Monitor 7's

Mini Monitors

CC370

for $1275.00 CDN - how did I do ?

Seemed like a deal from small shop in Sask.

Actually I priced checked them by quoting $1399.00 for the system as stated in this forum from Ontario.

So the guy crunched the numbers and came up with $1275.00

Thankyou HTF

Audio Ideas Guide's latest buyers guide notes the following Canadian MSRP's:

Monitor 7 CDN$760/pair

Mini Monitor CDN$430/pair

CC-350 (similar to CC-370) CDN$390 each

Total MSRP = CDN$1580

$1275/$1580 = 80.7% of MSRP or 19.3% off MSRP....pretty good deal IMO.

It certainly seems to be worth the time and energy to take a trip to Ontario for me to buy speakers. Thanks everyone.

Well, I drove 14 hours to get them, but the new Paradigm Studio Reference setup is complete and I think it is safe to say that I am content... for now. I would highly recommend that anyone, who is looking to make a large Paradigm purchase, find a way to get North. It really is worth the trip. I saved over a $1,000 off my local dealers quote (which included a 15% discount).

John,

I just went up to Fairview HiFi this past Sunday and bought my speakers. It was only about a 4 hour drive for me. I bought a pair of Monitor 7s, a pair of Minis, a CC370, and the PW2200 Sub. I even had time to stop to see Niagra Falls with the wife and kids. It was a long day but well worth the trip.

These are the prices I got in Mid-December for my purchase in Montreal.

All Prices Canadian

Studio 40's in Lt. Cherry Veneer: $1050

Studio 20's in Lt. Cherry Veneer: $850

Studio CC: $400

Anthem MCA 5 Power Amp $1625

All in all, I saved about $1500 below my local dealers list price and about a grand off his "best available deal". I probably could have done better in some areas and worse in others, but I didn't care. The savings was good enough for me.
