I mean someone somewhere must be looking up all the nasty stuff on the 'net in order for my company to block it. Who has that job? What a job, you just sit all day bookmarking porn and other inappropriate sites. Where do I sign up?

You'd be amazed what people look at during work. While I don't have the "site-blocking" job, per se, I do have to look after people who we suspect are looking at inappropriate material. We now run software that monitors everything a person does on their computer and boy oh boy, there are TONS of poeple looking at things that would make even me blush.

I used to have this job, working in IT.
There are numerous programs out there that block sites with numerous types of content. It basically recognizes the types of sites with questionable content and blocks it.
We were blocking anyhting from porn, to guns, to gambling, to racist sites.
    Works pretty good.
But I agree with Leila that it is amazing what people look for on the net at work. Mostly top executives were the guilty parties at my place [IMG]

Dave unfortunately its not all fun in Porn surfing land. If you mean blocking sites then the software does a lot for us but its amazing to see what people are looking at. Yes top management often looks at more stuff in most companies I have worked for BUT they have a personal office, work late, & have internet connections (some lower worker do not). So this gives them the means and opportunities to surf.
The last company I worked for, one of my jobs, was QA for web sites. We were developing a pre-paid ATM debit card and one use was a mall that we were creating. One of the biggest uses in the mall was adult sites that you would pay $2 to get into but you would have unlimited access to material on the site while you were logged in for that session. Well we couldnt have our customers redirected when they clicked on a picture or link, word, anything. So I had to check EVERYTHING for those damn links and let me tell you looking at porn all day is not what its cracked up to be. Yeah it was great when I started and I was thinking this is pretty cool but after awhile it was like Ho-hum. [IMG]
Glad that I dont do that job anymore but it was a neat experience (and the Ho-hum sites were not average sites either).
