Looking over the threads today, I see where there is an upcoming 5 Star Edition of Alien, and the Special Editions of the Star Trek films for upcoming release. It's annoying!!!!! They should be done right the first time. Who else is tired of this?
    Peace...

Not I. I just hand it down to my little brother if I do buy a new version, and don't buy a v2.0 if I don't figure it'll be worth the money.

I mean, I ultimately give mine away as well.
I just think they should do the shit right the first go round.

I'm sick of garbage like the Universal Ultimate Editions like American Pie or Mummy when they should focus on remastering older catalog, but when New Line does a wonderful job on the Seven disc or Columbia remasters Monty Python and the Holy Grail, for example, then I'm happy as can be to upgrade.

    Greetings and Salutations
I am all for Extra features and everything but I am sick of studios milking us all the time.
I am a sucker, I like my collection to be the best it can be and I always upgrade to the best versions available but as said, They should do it right the FIRST TIME
    Regards,
    Ricky

My suddenly depressed personal economy prevents me from getting just about any release I'd like to have (I still don't have the Gofather set). But before my present woes, I was getting bummed at purchasing multiple editions, the most recent one being Silence of the Lambs.
As for the Star Trek discs, if the fifth, sixth, and seventh features are remastered and anamorphically enhanced, I'll reluctantly get them. But, yes, this whole phenomenon is getting old.

It is annoying yes. Sometimes, I wonder just how many tims a film will be released and re-released on DVD.

Well, it happened all the time with LD, so history is just repeating itself, and you know about those who don't know learn from history (they are doomed to repeat it).
I usually just give my early non-extra versions away (may give them away as XMas gifts, even if they are *gasp* opened - hey the economy's tough, you should be grateful to get anything from my cheap ass! [IMG] )

True - it did happen on LD, but I don't remember it ever being this bad.
Besides, the only thing I ever bought duplicates of was the Star Wars Definitive Collection boxed set, then the Star Wars Special Edition Boxed set a few years later...even though I heard there is a third Boxed Set in Japan containing footage of Episode II. And now I'm reading here on the forum today that there is a possibility of a Third Disc (filled with supplements) for The Phantom Menace...
What is the deal? What do we have to do NOW to get the third disc? I'm having nightmares about the Alien Legacy 5th disc again...
    Peace...

It doesn't bother me all that much, but I do agree with Jason Whyte.
I pick my spots when it comes to purcashing the reissues. I have no qualms about buying the special editions of the Star Trek movies when they become available. Those are movies that I love and the upgrade will be worth it.

As for the bad rap about the characters--hey, I've seen space operas that put their emphasis on human personalities and relationships. They're called "Star Trek" movies. Give me transparent underwater cities and vast hollow senatorial spheres any day. --Roger Ebert on The Phantom Menace

It bothers me a lot less than you folks, i only because I don't buy many discs.
Look at Tombstone, great movie but Pro logic only. I kept waiting and guess what... super duper edition in January.
Same goes for the Die Hard series ...I just waited and waited.

I actually prefer it if studios released their movies NOW and come out with "Special Editions" later. This way, I would actually get to watch the movie now rather than years later. Commentaries and special features are all fine and dandy, but the movie is the thing I want the most.
