Who else is anxiously awaiting the release of Pumping Iron on DVD tomorrow? This will be the first time I have ever seen it and I can't wait to have it delivered to my doorstep.

For those that have gotten it already, how is it? How's the quality?

Aren't there rumors that Arnold's bad behavior was edited?

Amazon.com has this as anamorphic widescreen.
    I know!
Not to be taken as gospel.
However, I can find NO reviews for this DVD.

What bad behavior are you talking about?

It's been awhile since I've seen it.

I'm holding it right now. The VHS has been OOP for years and has been getting top dollar on EBay. I got it for $9.99 at BB. Yes, I'm very stoked.

    From DVDFile;
"presented in its original 1.37:1 full screen aspect ratio".
    Great!
Now I get to open this puppy!

    David Glenn,
It doesn't look too me like the reviewer saw the DVD.
    It does say Full Screen.
However, no comment on quality of presentation.
    Thank's though.

I just finished watching it. It is fullscreen.

The video quality is good considering the source. This is a dark complected, grainy film, so it still has that "ragged" look, but it is cleaned up a bit. It does look better than the VHS version, though not as dramatic as typical movies. The audio is good for its source, as well.

The are several other documentaries which are pretty good - especially the one that focuses on the making of Pumping Iron.

Overall, especially considering the price I paid for it, very recommended if you are a fan.

I just watched it and while the remastering was great, I felt they could have done it better by a two disc release. With the amount of extras on it, I could detect some video noise. Also to be nit picky, they shouldn't have just went off the HBO masters, as towards the end during the credits, arnold says "coming up next the making of pumping iron.." which obviously wasn't in the original release. But it's still a great disc.

I have the LD of Pumping Iron, and the DVD is a nice improvement. Not as many video 'hits', and the color is quite a bit more vibrant.
