Moxie's disgusting, plus the mascot guy on the label is annoying. I could never understand why people would drink this crap. It's the worst drink ever in my opinion. And why is it that it seems only older people tend to drink it?

I had it for the first time this weekend, we don't have it down here. It's revolting

The reason only older people drink it is because its an older product. The original company that made is no longer exists, and the formula now belongs to a smaller bottler who only creates just enough to satisfy demand of those who enjoyed the product when they were kids.

Moxie was the first mass marketed soda, and in its time was everywhere. People liked it because they really didn't have any alternatives. It was different. When sugar prices skyrocketed after WWII, and when Coke gained in popularity, Moxie went the way of many other sodas, fading to obscurity but still produced in limited quantities as a novelty.

However its legacy lives on and its brand name has even joined the vocabulary. "You've got moxie, kid!"
