Quentin Tarantino get's a lot of shit for his acting & mouth (at least he used to) but I think he is one hell of a director and screenwriter.

Ridley Scott:

I just saw Blade Runner again on TV last night. I absolutly can not beleive this film has made in 1982. It was years (decades) ahead of it's time.

James Cameron:

Steven Spielberg:

No one has put me through the full range of emotions like Spielbergs' "Schindlers' List" and "Saving Private Ryan"

I just don't like Kubricks work at all, except for 2001 (also, way ahead of it's time)

Don't blame me Jeff, I mentioned him! :emoji_thumbsup: (although I did forget to list him in my initial post):b
I am also surprised that, unless I missed it, nobody has mentioned Steven Soderbergh!

I also like Eisenstein, Scorcese (erm, ScorCese), Welles, Hitchcock, Lang, Coppola, and lots of others.

It's fashionable to diss Robert Wise, but he's an excellent "formula" director; his films achieve their goals.

And, of course, I also like John Boorman (and the "Z movie" ain't the only reason).

Hmmm. Kurosawa. Reed. Truffaut. So many really good filmmakers out there. Lynch, for at least shaking a stick--even though he misses the ball a lot.

Oh and, slightly off topic, but I had to say my least favourite director is Michael Bay - never again will I sit through any of his sunset-drenched, cliche driven, crap films again. This guy gives American films a bad name.
