This is based upon an original double-truck industry ad:
"The Maltese Film Works".
Is that because it's the stuff that dreams are made of?
The more I see the more I want can't wait for this to be releasedJust for fun, and in the Holiday spirit, here are some tests of Stereographs that will appear as extra material on the Johnstown Flood Blu-ray.
While still researching, we will have over 150 Stereograms, and a like number of archival 2D images of the area after the flood.
Anaglyph glasses are necessary, and will be included with the disc release.
But for those with them at the ready...

We'll need all the sales we can muster. This is a passion project, and a means to giving back to the silent era.The more I see the more I want can't wait for this to be released
Hope it becomes a big MUST have! And sells a tonWe'll need all the sales we can muster. This is a passion project, and a means to giving back to the silent era.
It's also a bit more involved than we suspected going in, although not by much. The Stereographs are interesting -
they go back to the pre-Civil War era - as a photographer would shoot the material, and then license to various
publishers, or others would just grab and dupe. Nothing new there.
Once we're able to find examples of suitable quality, it then goes to contrast and density adjustment,
removal of age-related color, and then on to our image specialist who turns them into anaglyph 3D material,
which is equally involved, and hand hewn.
We hope to break even on this endeavor as we're totally self-funded. Nothing wrong with Kickstarter, but
when there's a chance of a breakeven, followed by a bit of passive income, we'd prefer not to use other
people's money to create the product.
For those situations that necessitate it, or are 501s, it works nicely.
Score is in the works, with a theatrical opening planned for May in support of JAHA in Johnstown.
Appreciated. Reality is that a silent film will sell far fewer copies than a corresponding Marvel or DC project on the same subject matter.Hope it becomes a big MUST have! And sells a ton
Thank for enlightening us all and bringing the flicker of lost film to the age of dvd blu ray.Appreciated. Reality is that a silent film will sell far fewer copies than a corresponding Marvel or DC project on the same subject matter.
We’re hopeful that silent film fans, along with those with an interest in the actual Johnstown Flood will be helpful. Or Clark Gable / Carole Lombard completists. One might wonder if they met on location.
The actual restoration process has been revealing of the era, and moderately complex, but nowhere near that of Out of the Blue, for which Chloe Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne contributed thousands of hours of support and hand labor, repairing what survived of the OCN, and creating a stunningly transparent final product.
There’s probably a docu-drama in that story.
Probably still the most important, expensive (well into seven figures) and difficult restoration to be released this year. And a beautiful 4k release.
That’s saying a great deal in the year that brought us the likes of Dr. J & Mr. H and Invaders.
Possibly foolish, but as noted, we’re self-funding. If we’re able to break even, and then receive some amount of future passive income, we feel it improper to have others pay our way.So is there a distribution partner or is this going to be a crowdfunded kind of release?
Probably May.Can't wait until there's a link
Well, I guess there will be SOME 3D. LOLWe’ve not yet locked in a domestic distributor, but plan to premiere as a benefit - Spring 2023.
We plan to have neither Dolby Atmos nor 3D. And probably no Steelbook.
Appreciated.Well, I guess there will be SOME 3D. LOL
Day one pre-order for me. Looking forward to the link as well.
Wherever the scene in the forest with the couple walking on the path was filmed -- I'd sure like to run or hike there.
Like most film sites, they may no longer exsist. Watching even 50s or 60s locations, and then trying to match them up is difficult at best, sometimes impossible because land marks and buldings have come and gone. Leaving no trace as to what they were...but it is fun when you DO Find them!! Like the L&H piano steps in LA, and some Buster Keaton locations that haven't changed too much...
Maybe TCM will air it? Might get u more sales!Possibly foolish, but as noted, we’re self-funding. If we’re able to break even, and then receive some amount of future passive income, we feel it improper to have others pay our way.
