    Actually I should've phrased that question 'Will ANY US stores be selling the uncut PS2 version of BMX XXX?

    After news of it being banned here I decided I should get it (call me stubborn but banning something is an easy way to get me to buy it!!! I hate the idea of suits telling me what I can and can't do in my own home. Phuck I hate politicians).

    Anyone know where I'll be able to get this? I'm after a store not an e-tailer.

    I've heard it will not be available uncut for the PS2 anywhere in the US, but I'm hoping that info was incorrect. Really looking forward to it.

    Clinton;

    You heard correctly. You will not be able to buy the uncensored version of BMX XXX on the PS2. If you want the full monty, you'll have to pucker up for the Xbox or GameCube version.

    They made a big fuss about this the other day on the news. I haven't really seen anything for it, but most things that get banned over here (not just games) end up being very 'so-so' anyway.

    What is the word on this title?

    Why is the GameCube version going to be uncut but the PS2 isn't?! I'm not trying to call the GC kiddie or anything, but I thought the PS2 was seen as having an older general audience than the GC.

    That's certainly the perception of the GameCube, but considering that many of the games available for the system lend themselves towards an older audience, I think that perception of the GCN as a "kiddie" machine needs to be revised, don't you? [IMG]
    Perhaps Sony did not learn from Nintendo's past mistakes when making this kind of decision. If I remember correctly, the SNES version of Mortal Kombat lacked fatalities and blood, which were featured prominently on the Genesis edition. Guess which one sold more.
    If you want to sell copies of a game on your system, don't cut out all the "good" stuff.

    I was playing the SNES Mortal Kombat the other day [IMG] It has 'modified' fatalities that make it less violent and the blood is replaced by what looks like sweat.

    This sucks, change it! Don't ya hate it when companies bow down to corporate greed and play politics, thus robbing their customers of what they want?

    A censored version of it for PS2 isn't really the right wording. Sony ASKED them for a toned down version, microsoft and nintendo did not. So its not really censored, it the only version for the PS2 that exists.

    If any objectionable content is toned down in any way on any version from its original state, it is censorship.

    I think that the PS2 version should be considered a censored version. It is the only version on that console, so you could say it is not censored. But it is altered from the gamemakers original intent, which is available elsewhere, so it is in fact censored.
    It is like saying an R rated version of a film is the only version available on VHS, but on DVD there is an unrated/NC17 version, then the VHS version is indeed not censored, since it is the only option available on that format.
