I can get a JVC TH-A10 system for $750. Is this my best option for that kind of money? Any other suggestions?

What is it? Is it a Hometheater in a box? If so, you might also consider the Kenwoods for that price or even less. Or for a little bit more, try the Energy Take 5 with an inexpensive receiver? go to www.audioreview.com for reviews on the take5 and many, many others. I've never heard of that model you refer to though.

The JVC is a htib with dvd player. It only has 20 watts x 5. I think the Kenwood HTB504 with Panasonic RV31 dvd player would be much better and for less money. At least with the Kenwood you could upgrade the speakers later on, the same can't be said for that JVC system.
The HTB504 has DD, DTS, DPL2 and SRS Circle Surround.
