Looking for recommendations on a subwoofer around $300; specifically want something with a 'natural wood' finish rather than the standard black that most offer.

Perfer auto on/off; will be used 90% for home theater

Check out the Adire Rava in the oak finish. It's a little more than you are presently budgeting, but it is highly regarded.

Shows who has their thinking hat on. I think I would buy the SM40 Sony (12inch powered sub) for 137 dollars(NIB) on ebay and use Pete's vinyl wrap method,I have done this to Metal cabinet TVs with great success, there are thousands of colors and woodgrain looks to pick from, if you want to get silly you can wrap it with real wood veneer with adhesive back or use spray on adhesive, it is a lot simpilar than you would think really.Nothing against Pete's PE sub, they are highly reguarded. I have seen a couple of them, they work great.
