    Hi,
I just bought my SVS 25-31 PCi, and I have them with Marantz 6200 and four S26 as mains.
But a friend of mine has been loyal to JBL so he he put and Onkyo 797 with four S36, and he just bought and JBL S120PII, I tried to convince him to go with SVS, but I couldnt.
We both already bought our subs, but I wanted to get more opinions, which of the two is the better option (price and performance)

The SVS. The JBL is too small. Which means if it's ported it will be tuned too high. If it's sealed it will lack the last octave performance of the SVS.

The SVS. It goes lower and gets there cleaner. I'm familiar with both. No comparison.

I agree with Dan here. Do the shootout for us. Make sure you calibrate both subs first. I'd guess though, the SVS will be cleaner and go louder and deeper (use the Stryke bass cd here to get actual numbers at low frequencies) than what the JBL will do. JBL makes some good budget subs, but they aren't equal to a SVS. [IMG]

I've got a 6 year old JBL (can't remember the model) that goes down to 22 hz as well, 12 inch sub, 125 watts RMS...sounds pretty dang good for what I paid...granted I got money knocked off since it was a floor model...but it sounds awesome...I like it better than the new line of JBL subs. They just don't sound "bold" enough, and don't go as low( from what I've heard) Still, I wish I had money for an SVS. I've hear nothing but praise from them. It would be interesting to see a comparison (though I think SVS might take the prize) Still, JBL is quality stuff.

    Thanks for the replies,

I will try them both, in the same room, calibrated, and see which will sound better.

    Thanks,

My last sub was a JBL 10" mudbox. My SVS 20-39PC blows it outta the water...no comparison. [IMG] It gets lower and it does it cleaner. One of the best purchases i've made.

I just got a single 25-31 PCi and it almost beats my pair of original 20-39s in output. The 39's go deeper, and have alittle more headroom, but not that much more. I dont know if its the new driver, but the thing rocks. Now I just want to replace the old drivers in my 39's. Damn upgrades.

I can only imagine what a 16-46PCi sounds likes...

Hehe, Earle! I got my 16-46PCi about 2 weeks ago. It is a killer! I finally have that effortless feeling on the low notes. Be it Jurrasic Park, Fight Club, etc, the lows are absolutely incredible.

Pablo, I agree with everyone about the SVS. You *might* want to look at the 20-39PCi. A little taller, but goes a tad deeper. (Actually, I wanted to worry him with another option, hehe!)

If you treasure his friendship, I would just let it slide.
