A friend of mine is looking to replace his Yamaha DSP-A1 with a seperate pre-amp. He is already using his Yamaha as a pre-amp and using an Outlaw 750 to power his speakers. Speakers are Klipsch with Chorus's up front, and Academy center channel and dipole's as rear and front surrounds. He is looking to spend between 1k and 2k. I thought I would try to help him out and gather a few ideas from the board. Thanks for any suggestions.

if he already has the outlaw, i'd say go ahead and mate it with the 950 pre. personally though, i'm partial to ead processors. the encore is a great unit and deal and can be had from $800-$1400. it's fully upgradeable to any unit ead has ever offered. a lot of people here like the anthem avm-20. if he wants the latest and greatest surround formats, the encore won't do it...but he can always upgrade to the 8000 series.
