I'm finally going to upgrade from my Xbox player.

Which one would is the better player out of Panasonic RP62 or a Pioneer 656A.

Mark, welcome to the Forum! I haven't compared either player, and I haven't read any such comparisons. However, the 'RP62 probably does not show the chroma bug, as Panasonic seems to use a good chipset in its DVD players. On the other hand, Pioneer players always seem to show the chroma bug, and the '656A is probably no exception. That said, not everyone sees the chroma bug on their displays, so don't dismiss a player out of hand because someone tells you it shows the chroma bug. Also, the '656A offers DVD-Audio playback, unlike the 'RP62, which I consider an advantage in going with the '656A. If DVD-Audio is important to you, you might want to step up to the 'RP82 and compare it to the '656A. I realize that the 'RP82 is more expensive than the '656A, but these two models are comparable in terms of basic features. Best of luck.
