I am currently using the denon dvd 1500 which might I add has given me nothing but problems from the start . I have a 55in toshiba cimema series non HD RPTV so I dont have a need for a progressive player. What players under $300 would give me the best picture quality. Also is the DVD audio feature in some players even worth it in this price range ?

Back in the day, the best interlaced-$300 player was the Panasonic RV80. You missed the buying frenzy by about 10 months. However, it's been told that the new RP91 has interlaced video quality that equals and even betters the RV80. I guess a couple well-know e-tailers have the RP91 for under $450 shipped...then you'd also getchyer DVD-A, which is quickly becoming the most popular feature amongst audiophiles.
