You being a non-owner of either brand, it would be great if you did a comparison.

I understand totally about the cabinet finishes. Ascend offers custom painting (semi-gloss automotive quality) of the cabinets, and they are working on having a wood finish by the end of the year.

Color samples in the mail.....like a kid in a candy store.

I heard many things on the same recording that I'd never heard on the Mini-Monitors. Like; breaths taken, brushes on drums, the high hat/timpani, fingers sliding along strings,etc. Also voices sound much more natural to me on the Ascends.
