[IMG] I was watching an episode on the new "Perry Mason" set & in one scene there was a typical example of 1950's morals, two beds in the bedroom, his & hers. I have a question. When a man & his spouse had sex, whose bed did they usually use, his or hers? [IMG]

So the back seat was not just for teens & unmarried young adults? [IMG]
Even married couples prefered the car back seat to a comfortable bed? [IMG]

Ah! You're missing a key word in that phrase...

typical example of 1950's TV morals.

Did spouces actually sleep in separate beds in the 50's, or is that just what they show on TV?

the actual production code for the movies simply said unmarried male and female couldn't be in the same bed together. there was no prohibition against married couples. Separate beds for the married were a concession Hollywood made for Great Britain's production code--apparently people in England didn't have sex at all!

Now just imagine if hollywood had had to tailor all their movies to 40-50 state censorship boards, plus foreign ones (such as England) and be grateful that the MPAA came about. [IMG]

Every time I see the silly "married people with twin beds" thing on an old TV show, it really irritates me, and takes me out of the show. It's ridiculous, for example, to think that fictional characters played by two people as good looking as Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore wouldn't be in the same bed every night, and they sure as hell wouldn't be wearing PJs either.

I think the first American TV show that showed a married couple in the same bed was the Munsters.

But aren't we talking about sex here? [IMG] Did the Munsters have sex in bed? I mean, they have a kid, but that's not proof - - - I doubt that Eddie is their real kid. He's a werewolf - obviously adopted. [IMG]

Whoa, I thought Chinese couples had separate beds too!

But wait - if they lived in the city they wouldn't have room for two beds - they'd be sharing it with their grandparents, right? *ponder*

Someone needs to take a survey! I must know!

In my last long-term relationship we had separate beds. It was awesome. (And no that's not why we broke up)

I say bring 'em back. Can't stand people crawling all over me

Maybe the significant other just has a case of the jimmy-legs? Wait, you can get that in your leg? Like you wouldn't believe....

It's not the legs that are the problem, it's the elbows...

I found this on another site and thought it was kind of relevant. It was a site about why being single was better than being married. Here was one of the reasons:[IMG]

Singles must value other things more, considering how much time and effort most of them devote to trying NOT to sleep alone. [IMG]
