Should I get the older Avia calibration DVD or the newer one with info on 6.1 theater systems (I have a 6.1 system). If I get the older one, will the test tones work with the additional speaker?

I was not aware of a newer Avia other than Avia Pro, that supported 6.1 etc.

Avia Pro is $400 DVD suite designed for professionals.

Avia is like $40-50 i think maybe less.

    Mark,

why not order the Sound & Vision Home Theater Tune-up disc (2001)for $16.39 at amazon.com. I imagine this is the 6.1 chl disc you've heard about. (Yes, the Ovation company which makes Avia, headed by audio scientist Guy Kuo, contributed to the S&V disc).

I have both Avia and S&V and find them equal for audio calibration. Avia has more video tests for the so-inclined tweaker; but there's nothing wrong with S&V here, either.

On the amazon website, type the words sound and vision in the upperleft box.
