I just upgraded to HTD Level 3 Tower setup and noticed that my receiver is just not up to the task of powering these speakers. I have a strda30es and it has 5 pre outs. So, since my budget is limited here's my options:

Parasound H1000A: $500 (125w x 2 Channel)

Rotel RB-1050: $350 (70w x 2 channel)

Rotel RB-1070: $620 (130w x 2 Channel)

Rotel RMB- 1066 $620 (60w x 6 or 150 x 3)

I know all are good but i'm thinking best bang for my buck and there's always the WAF, who's not too happy w/me right now since I just bought the HTDs.

oh yeah: 60/40 HT/Music

Any thoughts?

ive tested the Rotel 1050 with my Paradigm Studio 40's and it was more than enough. Beautiful sound and clarity.

Carlos: for the $650 or so budget that you've mentioned, I'd look for a new Parasound 1205a amp. Parasound is closing those out and you might be able to get one for under $650 if you shop on Ebay. The Parasound 855 is also available for $475 or so and the big 2200II can be found for around $875 or so if you shop carefully. A used 2003 can be had for around $700 and if you bump up your budget, the mighty 2205a can be had for around $1200. Right now, Parasound amps are a real bargain.

Good Luck!

JT: Oops! Make that 2205 a 2200 amp. A 2205a sells for around $1200-1500 these days. I'll make the correction to my previous post...

Carlos,

Checkout that Citation 5.1 amp in the classified forum. ~ $700/retail $1800. Details there.
