I need a receiver to put with a TV and DVD player for my bedroom, to play DVDs as well as music. I am looking for a stout power section as my speakers are 4 to 6 ohm impedance. My DVD player has a DD decoder, so I can use the decoder in the receiver or the DVD player. I don't need to blow the walls down(after all, it is in the bedroom), so should I just get a Sony and be done with it, or go for something better?

Oh, I forgot to say I would like a phono input also-don't really want to have to do the phono pre-amp thing.

The Kenwood 510 looks real good, and has a phono input plus 6-channel input for my DVD-A player. But at 19 pounds, how strong can the power supply and amps be?

Used might be a good way to go. You can pick up a receiver with better amps for the price. You'll give up a few bells & whistles, but it might make a lot of sense.

If you can wait a few more weeks the new Onkyos will be out.
