Rather than spending 400-500 dollars on a solid new DVD player, I thought I might spend a bit more and pick up an i-Scan Pro or Ultra, to benefit laserdiscs and VHS tapes, as well.

Does anyone know where where i-scans can be found in the Toronto area?

I bought mine from Musonic on Kingston Road, just east of Morningside, a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if they still sell them but it wouldn't hurt to try.

I would check the classifieds eg canuckaudiomart.com audiogon.com and videogon.com. For 400 - 500 bucks, I would pickup a used entry level scaler vs a line doubler.

Ditto. I bought my first iScan Pro from an AVS/HTF member and my iScan Ultra I found on Canuck audiomart.
