    Hello All,

I'm in the process of building my own speaker stands. I've based my stands on the Wood Tech, Hardwood series.

At first I was going to order spikes from partsexpress, but they charge international shipping prices to Canada ($17 US for $5 worth of product).

Thus I'm looking for options that are either local (Toronto), in the country, or have reasonable shipping rates from the States.

    Thanks for you help,

    Cal

I read somewhere where someone went to a local hunting and
sporting goods shop and purchased Broad Head Arrow Points
for archery, they come with Aluminum Knocks that you can
glue and press into the wood and then screw the broad head
points into the knocks. They cost something like $3.00 per
6 broad heads or something cheap like that, and they are
    steel.

Thanks for all the replies. I've also have found a great, cheap alternative for speaker spikes.

I bought threaded inserts, nuts, and hanger bolts. The hanger bolts are the spikes. Hanger bolts have machine threads on the top half of the bolt, and a screw threads on the bottom. The screw side of the bolt will be my spike. Total cost from Home Depot, $5 Cdn.
