Looking for a little help, I want to buy the Leslie Dame 1500CD/DVD rack & do the modification for 7 shelves. I haven't seen any posts regarding this unit in over a year using the search, so hopefully there is some more up-to-date info on purchasing this unit. Below are most of the stores where I could find it listed for sale. I'm hoping people can give me some feedback on customer service, reliability or delivery experience with any of these online retailers. If anyone knows of a better/cheaper place to purchase this unit, any help would be much appreciated.

Also, if anyone has any experience in getting replacement parts from the manufacturer (Leslie Dame http://www.ldestorage.com) would love to know if they are good about that.

Thanks for listening & it's nice to be a part of this community, I appreciate all the info i have already accumulated searching the old posts.

This looks like a GREAT set for our new house. Does anyone know any place in Canada that sells this line?

Dave, I bought my Leslie Dame racks (one modded for DVDs) over a year ago from Catalog City. Unfortunately, they no longer carry the Leslie Dame line.

If I was to buy another one (and I actually may in a few months) I would probably go with your first link (Racks & Stands). $218 shipped is a good deal. The Home Audio Superstore price LOOKS good ($160), but after you add UPS Ground Shipping in it's more expensive than the R&S price.

Both racks I bought came with all parts, so I've never had to contact LD customer service. Soory I can't help you there.

Finally, as a result of the discussion last year, I wrote up some instructions on how I did the mod to add the 7th shelf for DVDs. If anyone's interested these can be found here:

Hi Dave, after some groping around on the web, I just ordered the 1000 and 500 Leslie Dame units from Racks and Stands. I can't say how they've been, since I only ordered Monday night.

However, I am very interested in hearing what the 7 shelf modification is? Please do tell! EDIT: Actually found a great link to the mod here, after searching HTF: http://cseanor.home.att.net/misc/dvdrackmod.htm

    Many thanks, Dan

PS: I'll chime in if/when I get the units.

Racks and Stands sent an email at 10:30 this morning saying that they had shipped the above mentioned units. So far so good...

Got my unit today from RacksandStands.Com. Took about 10 days, but not bad for $217.99 shipped. It's the black ash model & everything seems to be in tact. I'm gonna do the modification tonight, I'll post pictures after I've gotten it assembled.

    Cheers, Dave

I finally took the time to put the unit together. Looks good & is sturdy. Will hold 735 single snap case dvd's within the unit, 840 if ya use the top shelf.

The mod was good, i would add to the directions on Craig's website:

    1. be xtra careful when you screw the support boltz into holes "F" on the outer panels. (as mine stripped on one panel cause of my forcefulness & lack of patience). gently but firmly & with some patience screw in those two boltz.

    2. use a smaller size drill bit for the adjustable shelf inner & outer support holes "A & D" (8 of them) on all 4 panels. (not sure how much smaller, but my shelf brackets would slide out of the holes - it holds, but tighter couldn't hurt).

Overall, very happy, will probably buy some more for CD's & eventually more DVD storage.

I was going to post a picture but the forum won't let me. (UPDATE - the first post in the forum is now the rack i modified)

    Cheers
