"Suffle up and deal!"

Have fun. Looks like you got a great price. How are the chips? Do they make that proper "sound" when stacking them? Do they feel "right"? I plan on purchasing some as well for me and as a gift.

The Costco chips do have that "feel" that Vegas ones do (not exact, but close). In fact they are a lot closer than the 11.5 gram chips my roommate got from a local store. When we got his, they felt good, but when we got my set, they blew his away. His sound "plastic" and feel that way in comparison to the ones I got from Costco. I would highly recommend the set: 500 chips, 2 decks of cards, dice and a really nice case for $59.99.

Hey Carlo

I've been on the hunt too for some professional poker chips. Started off with the cheap plastic ones, then onto better ones that I bought at Target, 200 that came in the revolving dispenser similar to the one pictured above.

Since then I have been hunting for 11.5 gram chips, either clay or a composite. I bought a set on sale last week at MACY's. 300 11.5 gram chips, 5 dice, two packs of playing cards and a steel case for $59.95. Not bad.

Your deal from Costco sounds better so I'm going to check it out today. Hopefully they still have them in stock.

Thanks for the tips guys.:emoji_thumbsup:

I cant say enough GOOD things about the $60 Costco set, except that I like them sooo much, I'm considering going back and getting two more sets for tournament play.

It completely blows away the alleged clay composite chips I got off of ebay, and I paid nearly double for those.

Go get em, they are a true bargain and a great set.

Couldn't make it to Costco today. I plan on going in the next few days.

Can one of you guys post the specs and maker of these chips so I know I get the right ones. And to confirm, there are 500 11.5 gram chips (btw, are they clay, composite or ???).

Thanks:)

A friend who "knows" says that not even casinos use clay anymore--they chip and wear too quickly. Almost everything is composite. And while I won't say the Costco chips are "exactly" like casino chips (they aren't) they are closer to it than a lot of other 11.5g chips I've seen at higher prices.

I think, bang for buck, this is the best you're going to get at anywhere near this price.

You can of course google a search for casino quality chips and get those. I guarantee you'll be paying a lot more than what the Costco set sells for [500 chips, and a nice case, 2 decks of cards, dice].

In store Walgreens has a 500 piece set with 2 decks of cards in a nice case for $89.99. These things are HEAVY. It looks quite similar to the costco set.

Carlo, I'm buying one of these sets for my brother for the holidays. The OC Fairgrounds Swap Meet has great prices on these sets. There are about 5-6 different booths specializing in these. $29.95 will get you a nice aluminum case with chips/cards etc. and on up from there.

I heard something very interesting today on a consumer advocate talk radio show. A caller said that clay chips that were being sold at some KMarts , were actually not clay chips ,hmmmm.. Apparently he had purchased a box and had drilled through some of the chips and found them to contain a thin slice of metal in the center. The boxes of chips have no address on them and the consumer advocate was going to follow up on on this lead and check into it.

Just bought me a set of these from this site

With this case

A couple of buddies of mine have already tried to snag a few. Luckily, the chip count happens before anyone walks out the door. ;)

That looks like a really sweet set.

My own preferences would prevent me from using one like it tho. A. You are stuck at 300 chips, 500 is much more flexible. B. You are stuck at those denominations, which is great for a small tournament but bad for smaller table stakes.

Nickels, Quarters, Dimes and Dollars. Works pretty well for 4 or 5 of us. I thought about a larger set, but my brother has 3 hundred of the Bugsy's Hideaway set. If we get into a big game, we'll just work em together.
