I am about to purchase my first region free player and was wondering, what are some good cheap websites that deliver to the U.S.?

Also, I know there are numerous discussions that compare DVD's from different regions but is there a website that identifies the best DVD? (one that compares all regions available of a particular DVD)

I just did an order from HMV UK...It took eight days from England via airmail. And the shipping was basically free since you don't pay the VAT. Great service and prices, and you can sign up for an email newsletter for sale prices.

Don't forget dvdbasen.com , they do a great job on comparing discs from all over the world as do dvdbeaver.com. For buying discs try play.com (R2) , cdjapan.co.jp (R2) have a great selection but their shipping is quite expensive , cdwow.com and koreandvds.com also (R3).

There have been some great threads on this forum recently including one where people from all over the world showed photos of the contents of their favourite boxsets ( a fair few of which were available on koreandvds.com)

    Thanks for the sites.

    One more question:

Does anyone know where I can get German DVD's that will ship to the U.S. I am on the hunt for the German (region 2 PAL) version of David Lynch's Lost Highway.

for the last few titles i've used http://www.xploitedcinema.com/

they specialize in cult/ exploitation fare, but also have a fair amount of arthouse and general hollywood films (usually ones that either don't have a R1 release, or else don't have an R1 release in the proper OAR)

service has been excellant so far, and the prices are equivilent and in some cases better than going directly to a French or UK retailer that i've used in the past.
for one thing, shipping is considerably cheaper which impacts the final cost to a large degree (especially true with Japanese discs which are pricey anyway you go).

however, if a movie has an R4 release, i prefer to go with Ezydvd.com
very economical pricing and quick and inexpensive shipping.

Just remembered www.michaeldvd.com.au ; their R4 DVD reviews usually include a comparison with R1 discs.

    Thanks.

    One more question...

If a DVD player has a PAL converter, then I should be able to play PAL DVD's on a NTSC TV, correct?

    Yes they certainly are.
Two online retailers i have been very happy with are dvdasian.com and global.yesasia.com
Dvdasian are superfast to ship and they have a wide variety of the hard to get titles.Yesasia ship in about two days if they are in stock and they offer free shipping worldwide if you spend $50 usd or more. They offer the r2 all colour Kill Bill vol 1 for around $38 usd, thats about the best price you will find on the net considering you only have to spend another $12 to get it shipped free.
