Is Shout! still working with Fox on DVD releases? If not, this and other Fox properties may never be released or finished. It is a real shame that Fox owns MTM shows like St. Elsewhere.

If there is one show that baffles me the most concerning a series dvd release is St. Elsewhere.

As far as I'm concerned it is the best prime time dramatic series ever created. The time for dvd is over. Give me a completely remastered Blu-ray set of the entire series with many special features, and I may still think it is not enough for this great series.

St. Elsewhere must be the best TV show never released on DVD. It's a pity considering all the tripe that has been released. I heard there were problems with music rights. Any more news on a possible release?

Moved these last two posts into this already-established thread.

Chris: Welcome to the HTF! :welcome:

I couldn't agree more. Check out some of the recent pages of this thread to find more of us who cannot understand why this seruies has been ignored (outside of the season 1 release). This is a series just begging for a complete series release.

We recently had the opportunity to ask one of the top dogs over at 20th Century Fox (James Finn) about the title...but heard nothing in response. That's probably pretty bad news.

Hulu bought up the rights to a ton of shows including allegedly all of St Elsewhere.
So far only season one is up.

After years of NO NEWS on this issue...comes a post on the HTF today in another thread by HTF Member Robert (The Obsolete Man) that says St. Elsewhere (ALL episodes) are now available to stream on Hulu.

    I am gobsmacked.

Yes they have been up for about a month.

I meant to come in and post it here but forgot all about it because I don’t have Hulu right now.

I do have a free month and a $6 a month thereafter deal so I’m probably going to sign up again.

Still no word on if they are the syndicated eps though, probably are.

And just to source my claims so no one says "fake news", I got it from a Rolling Stone article

    https://www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-features/stream-this-show-st-elsewhere-hulu-groundbreaking-medical-drama-747833/

And if you google "St Elsewhere Hulu", it takes you to the show page proudly proclaiming 137 episodes available.

Between this and The Practice, I may have to sign up for a couple months.

Well, you control the Weekly Roundup. Couldn't you just add it to the list and shame Fox into releasing them?

You do realize you wield exceptional power.

The way I've been ineffectively moaning about this issue for years...seems to indicate the complete LACK of power I have!

I checked Hulu; the running times are are all over the place, ranging from 45 to 48 minutes.

Looks like they picked up whatever tape masters were already on the shelf and uploaded it. Although considering the Lou Grant S5 debacle where A WHOLE SEASON OF A SHOW JUST DISAPPEARED FROM THE FOX ARCHIVES WITHOUT A TRACE that mercifully hasn't happened here.

As varied as the running times are, I'm still glad that Hulu got St. Elsewhere in the first place; I was getting fed up with that first-season-only debacle of more than a decade!

That's why I'm disappointed Shout didnt get the show. They would've fought for full episodes, while Hulu is partially owned by Fox and will get whatever's handy.

Sad thing is St. Elsewhere(beyond season 1) would be a nightmare to release on disc for anyone. Three songs from the top of my head "Psycho Killer" from Talking Heads(Fiscus playing a prank), and "Just What I Needed(The Cars) and "Legs" from ZZ Top(Luther's dream sequence) would have to be omitted, or substituted, and that wouldn't be good for any fan of the show.
