Originally available from DTS and THX (the latter are very rare, because only dealers could get them). Your best bet now is probably eBay.

what a shame...i think there would be a decent niche market for such things...

There is...eBay at about $5 million a pop. Hehe

I started bidding on a THX demo disk once, and stopped when it hit $90. Don't remember what it closed at, but it wasn't even remotely worth that to me.

Dolby has a demo DVD for sale at their online store.

THX, hard to find like others mentioned. I have a demo DVD that came with my Dell THX certified PC. I've been using that and its cool.

DTS; There was a new demo (DVD #8) that was given out at the CES in Las Vegas (from what I've been told). If you are going to bid on one, go for that one for it has really good scenes from recent movies (the two towers comes to mind)

hmmm...I had no idea there was such a cutthroat market for the things...I just want an easy way to demo my setup...I'm not about to pay 100$ for it though [IMG] hehe...at that price I'll just swap discs! I could buy 5-7 REAL full movies for that!

the one from Dolby that you can buy from their store is only 20 plus shipping. Not a bad price for a demo DVD. considering that usually they go over 40 at times.

If you have laserdisc, you can get the THX WOW demo disc on eBay in the $40-$60 range usually. I got lucky and got mine with a set of other discs that I sold off for profit, so mine cost nothing.

I'll get the DVD version sometime, but I'm not gonna give $100+ for it.

Beware, some of the THX WOW DVD's on eBay are burned copies. I finally got one, but alas it was burned. It works great, but if you want the real thing (which is all we should want) just be careful.
