In the original books, they do mention scientists from around the world, although different races are not identified.

This is such a great 50's movie, and it is nice to see it is being released as a blu ray.
Can anyone give some insight into a likely U.S. (region A) release? It would make a wonderful triple header with WAR OF THE WORLD, TIME MACHINE and WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE. Or perhaps split that up and make a second day of WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE and ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS. i am hoping for a domestic release!
My Favorite Triple header is ...The Day The Earth Stood Still, Forbidden Planet, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers ! Three Great 50's Classics on Bluray.

Lest I sound holier than though, when I saw this movie as a kid and young adult, I did not notice the inherent racism.

In the movie we’re assured other nations are working on similar projects, but the results of this are never shown. It's kind of like the kids in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory...we never see the other kids again do we?

I didn't notice the inherent racism in it the first time around either. But the reason it stands out now is that the project described here is the very survival of the human race, so the unstated now seems to be very obvious, more than it would be in a Western or noir or whatever.
Wait .. what am I saying? Noir is almost always black and white!

In the book (1933) you also have a British ship, a ship from one other country that explodes and a Natzi/Communist ship that seeks to conquer the others on Bronson/Beta.

BACK TO THE TRANSFER....Does anyone know what the specs were for the itunes copy? Was it 2k/4k remaster? Was it restored? One might guess future hard copies will use the same source if it's an upgrade from the dvd. Or perhaps it's from the master that the dvd used. I'm hoping for a USA release since the imprint price is pretty high. Cheapest I've seen it is $32 at Deepdiscount. I have no interest in buying the bundle for an average lower price.

I’m really hoping for a Region 1/A release too! Perhaps this film will follow the same path The War of the Worlds did and have a US release after this Australian release.

I watched When World's Colliide streaming from Prime recently. A very enjoyable experience as a primer to buying Criterion's War Of The Worlds Blu-ray.

For anyone on the fence about this movie I suggest streaming it first then you'll probably want to buy a Blu-ray. Hopefully, it will get the Criterion treatment too, very deserving.

I didn't notice any racism as a kid, but I recall that the rich, selfish, handicapped character was left behind to die. Could this be interpreted as anti-disabled?
Imprint are an Aussie company who seem to be focusing on Paramount classics. They have also released SORRY, WRONG NUMBER and A PLACE IN THE SUN (due out soon). Here they are AUS$30, about US$22. On a discount day at JB HiFi, they are AUS$24. Certainly worth it at that price. I suggest overseas collectors check out Australian stores and our ebay for the best price.

Do you know when JB plans to start their Fathers Day sale this year? Seems like they usually do a 1-2 week sale leading into FD ( Sept 6 I think this year)

I love this movie and got the recent Imprint blu ray. Wish I had better news. Speckles, stains, and lint everywhere on the source used for the transfer. It has Technicolor registration errors, color breathing, and other issues. This is obviously an older transfer. Glad I now have it on blu, but a major disappointment. If you purchase it, set your expectations low. Guess I was expecting the kind of restoration Paramount did for WAR OF THE WORLDS.

Bonus features include about 90 minutes worth of interviews from THE FANTASY FILM WORLDS OF GEORGE PAL, but curiously not the documentary itself.

I streamed this from Vudu in the U.S. a week or so before I bought War Of The Worlds in the B&N sale. I don't know if the Vudu and Imprint sources are the same but I was impressed (and I don't impress easily) and any small imperfections certainly didn't spoil my enjoyment. I'm hoping this will get the Criterion treatment, it deserves it.

I interpret it as anti-asshole. It seems to me the rich guy has reached the top of his game as a big mucky-muck, so that part is pro-disabled.

Hi. I ordered this online from JB Hi Fi in Melbourne about nine days ago. It arrived in four days. They had a great deal. Movies were around 20% off and also there was a 'buy two, get one free'.
I got the Imprint blu rays of THE CARPETBAGGERS and A PLACE IN THE SUN with it and with shipping each came to approx AUS$18 each. Happy with all three. I was not expecting Criterion quality for WORLDS. It improves on the SD transfer. The longer interviews from the Pal doco are great. The dvdbeaver review sums it up pretty accurately.

I went ahead and ordered during the B2G1 sale (6 titles), but then they added the 20% off right before Fathers Day. I took a chance and asked if they would price match their new sale especially since the 1st part of my order didn't dispatch until the day the 20% started -- 3 titles dispatched on the 3rd and the other 3 on the 12th. Much to my surprise, they said they would allow that. Unfortunately with AUS to US shipping being very slow right now it may be mid Oct before I see them at all, but if the 20% and GST refund go through properly that will make a great deal. Other than actual shipping time (2-3 weeks preCOVID), I've always been very pleased with JB Customer Service -- actually I don't think I'd mind the speed if there was some sort of package tracking available but that seems would increase the shipping cost considerably from my understanding.

I haven't seen many of these in quite a few year and a couple I'm not sure I've seen at all.
