Robert Altman has been one of the most interesting and innovative directors for the past 30 years, but he's had a poor deal on DVD thus far. His movies cover a number of studios, but, apart from Paramount who have done their bit with Nashville, they seem reluctant to release his work. I know Fox are working on MASH for next year, but when we going to have 3 Women from Fox, McCabe And Mrs Miller from Warner, California Split from Columbia, The Long Goodbye and Thieves Like Us from MGM and Short Cuts from New Line or Criterion?
Come on guys, let's give Robert Altman his due on DVD!

I agree and Short Cuts is at the top of my wish list. I have the LD and Criterion put out an awesome release.

I expect to see an announcement of 3 Women from Fox any time in the near future. They have a remastered print (half of which I saw--a mistake resulted in only half of this new print playing at Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival), which seems to imply a DVD is in the works.

Don't forget BREWSTER McCLOUD from MGM (the LD looks pretty good, but a dvd with Altman commentary would be a treat).
But absolutely 3 WOMEN and CALIFORNIA SPLIT.

I would love, love, love to see more Altman on DVD. One of the best American directors of the past 30 years is criminally under represented on DVD. The films I would like to see most on DVD are:
3 Women
Brewster McCloud
California Split
Kansas City
Long Goodbye, The
McCabe & Mrs Miller
Short Cuts
Streamers
That Cold Day in the Park
Thieves Like Us
Vincent & Theo
A Wedding

"Images" is one I'd like to add. Even if the original negative is lost, there have to be some theatrical prints floating around somewhere. Wasn't there a VHS release back in the 80's? I hate Pan and Scan but if that's all Columbia's got I'll take it.

I love most of Altman's films, and would especially like to have a letterboxed DVD of a film that hasn't been previously mentioned here, A PERFECT COUPLE. Off the top of my head, Altman did several films for Fox in a row, three of which have never been released on home video: THREE WOMEN, A PERFECT COUPLE, and HEALTH (not one of my faves). Key Video, an old Fox division, did release A WEDDING and QUINTET (yeechhhh), but missed out on THREE WOMEN and A PERFECT COUPLE.

The Long Goodbye is on the top of my list. McCabe and Mrs. Miller would be welcome too.

STREAMERS is a film that has a low profile. It is a superb psychological drama, excellent ensemble acting. I own a video tape from someplace in the midwest. The quality is horrible. Who has rights to this film? Any chance of seeing it in the next couple of years?

I too hope Criterion can reissue Short Cuts, this time on DVD...the package they put together looks really interesting. The Criterion edition of Secret Honor would be nice to have on DVD as well.
I'd also like to see Tanner 88 and Vincent & Theo on DVD.

I too saw this and expected an announcement but I'm still waiting and it's been about a year now. My wife is always asking me if it came out yet. 3 Women will be a must buy for us. Please hurry!
