A special edition of this classic, my favourite of the 90s' Best Picture winners, is long, long overdue. The current edition (which came out in 1998 I believe) has ZERO extras and no 5.1 for the fantastic soundtrack. Bring it on.

English Patient is most definitely 5.1 in its current incarnation.

If you can?

A very nice Criterion laser disc;

Screen-specific audio commentary by director Anthony Minghella, producer Saul Zaentz, and author Michael Ondaatje

Director-approved widescreen transfer

Trailers and television spots

24-minute documentary The English Patient: A Passionate Journey featuring video interviews with stars Ralph Fiennes, Kristin Scott Thomas, Juliette Binoche, and Willem Dafoe Master class with Minghella

Also, a full bit rate DTS movie only laser disc was issued.

This is another one I've been waiting and waiting for. I sold my bare-bones edition when I heard there was going to be an SE. :frowning:

An English Patient Collector's Edition is in production, but Miramax tells me not to expect it before 2003. I can't wait for this one too... Best!

Not too bothered about the extras myself, but if I could have a nice, sharp anamorphic transfer with audio quality to match the DTS LaserDisc, I'd be a happy chappy.

Bugger.
