Boy do I love free software!

    Eudora 6.0: great email program
    Ad-aware/Spybot: can't live without them
Post-it Notes Lite: my latest addiction
FreeRam XP: a nice tool to free up RAM
Kazaa/Imesh/other P2P: used to use them all the time and loved it

    Cost: $0.

The last time I paid for software was last fall when I picked up Win XP Pro through my school for $12 and office xp for $18!

    what are your guys's experiences?

Agreed. Lotsa good free stuff out there.

In the last 2 years the only software I remember buying has been TurboTax.

But a few weeks ago I bought SageTV PVR software (bundled with a Hauppuage PVR-250 capture card). Extremely easy to setup, works great and is very wife-friendly. [IMG]

I've tried to move away from windows, and I've basically found linux replacements for all of the windows apps that I use. However, I can't quite pitch MS yet because I still like to play games... and games run oh-so-good in Windows.

All of my MS applications / OS's are paid for, not freebie hacked versions off the net.

I pay for all of my real registered software -- come on now, if you use the program, pay for it! However, you are right, there are a ton of good, free programs to use. A quick plug for Eudora: seems to have good anti-spam capabilities if you get a lotta unwanted emails about increasing your breast size, etc.

The last non-microsoft software I remember paying for was Dreamweaver, and of course any games I play.

I admire the person(s) that make the small programs so I have no problem with paying them. The ones I recently bought are:

FRAPS - $30 - Let's you record your games while playing them
    Fly 2000 TV - $30 - Great PVR software
McAfee - $35 - Had a virus scare so bit the bullet and finally decided to get protection

But the coolest programs I have are free, even better!

    Matt,

I am actually considering buying eudora for the anti-spam stuff based on a great review in December's PC World mag.
You can't enjoy the free ride for too long!

Saturday I bought a copy of DVD lab, the best DVD authoring program I've found.

I love freeware programs though, and they are often better than payware. Anyone know of a good freeware ftp program? (Bonus points for a freeware pocketpc ftp program [IMG] ).
