Title sez it all. Thanks
bhphotovideo has had it for a few weeks already
They are sold out...
Looks tempting but no preouts and HDMI is 1.2. I think I'll wait awhile for HDMI 1.3 and preouts.
what would be the benefit of buying a digital amplifier to use pre-outs?
J&R has SA-XR57S (silver) in stock at time of this posting
a couple of units also pop up on amazon from time to time
wonder what Panasonic is doing
You might be waiting a long, long time. I very much doubt that you'll see pre-outs on a Panasonic digital receiver.
I agree. I'll add that it'll probably NEVER happen.......EVER. (Get the point)
Waiting on a new receiver with HDMI (or actually more of a prepro), don't care if it is "digital" or not. Actually would prefer something that is not "digital" but the price on this would be tempting IF it had preouts. Still would need to wait for HDMI 1.3.
If anyone is currently using a SA-XR57 would appreciate your comments, pro and con. Thanks
Jerry, there's an owner's thread over at AVS. Be sure to check out the XR55 thread as well, essentially both receivers have the same guts with the addition of HDMI for XR57, ability to do dual-amping in 5.1 mode (only in stereo for XR55) and a fixed (apparently only on/off) sync delay
What does HDMI 1.3 have compared to version 1.2?
HDMI v1.3 specs hasn't been officially released yet.
HD-DVD and BR will deliver uncompressed HD-DTS and Dolby TrueHD soundtracks only through HDMI 1.3 and up. You can get DD+ through analog outputs which is still better than DTS/DD but it wouldn't hurt to get the best sound format out of the movies either.
