What's new

When I post a new thread the icon shows a "sealed" envelope. (1 Viewer)

When everyone else posts something new, a regular envelope appears. Is this a "new member" thing? Or am I missing something on the "new thread" screen?

John,

I believe anytime you post in a thread, whether or not you start the thread, the icon becomes what you call the "sealed" envelope.

At this time, on this thread, you and I would see that icon, no one else would, they did not post here.

You may experiment with this in the TEST area.

Actually, doesn't the sealed envelope mean that there are no new messages since you last opened the thread, whether you posted to it or not?

John:

The envelopes (indicators of read and unread threads) are based on your last visit information in your cookie. If you do not save a cookie on your computer or you have the "Browse the board with cookies" turned on in your options in the User Control Panel the last time on either doesn't get updated or is updated while you are browsing.

I would go to the User Control Panel > Edit Options and make sure that the "Automatic login....." is enabled and the "Browse the board with cookies" is diabled and see if that helps or not.

When you say "sealed" envelope, you mean one with the black dot in the middle, as opposed to a closed, "unsealed" envelope?

The black dot (looks like a "seal" doesn't it?) indicates that you posted to that thread.
