    Hello everybody.

Does anybody know when we are getting this incredible film on DVD? Everytime I see this on TV, I am glued to the set. It is one of my all time favorites. THe story is phenomenal and the acting fantastic. An all time classic.

    Thank you.

    Carlos

    Carlos,
There are rumors of a dvd release in 2003, which would celebrate it's 55th Anniversary since it's theatrical release.

I think it's a newly restored transfer (likely not Lowry Digital Images) probably from UCLA.

UCLA did the excellent restorations for Casablanca and a lot of the other classic B&W Warner films.

UCLA did not have anything to do with the restoration of CASABLANCA. WB restored that on their own, as they are indeed doing as well with SIERRA MADRE.

WB's nitrate studio prints are at UCLA, but they usually don't participate in the restorations of WB's features. To my knowledge their only preservation work on Warner pictures has been on Vitaphone shorts and THIS IS THE ARMY which WB technically no longer owns.

This will assuredly pop up in the not-too-distant future, along with TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT and a few others. Warner has stepped up their catalog releases significantly.

So who DOES own This Is The Army? How many films show Ronald Reagan directing a "men in drag" singing review???? [IMG]

Maybe we'll see this in the fall when the rumored Casablana:SE comes out. I hope for a downpour of Bogart titles...
