Hi all, it is only five weeks till Amadeus the director's cut is released. When will the review copies come in, this one and all of the other 2 disc sets from Warner are the biggest DVDs that I am looking forward to besides The Lord of the Rings extendd version. Besides the fact that Amadeus is one of my very favorite films.

Warner Bros. don't allow reviews to go up more than two weeks pre-street, so unless some sites break that rule, don't expect any reviews until September 10. Dunno if anyone else has received review copies yet - I haven't, but hope to see them soon, since WB send out discs pretty early much of the time - but you probably won't get a review for almost another month...

I am anticipating receiving a review copy
next week or the following. Colin is
correct in that we are not allowed to post
reviews until 2 weeks prior to street date.

Will this new DVD contain both the theatrical version and the new director's cut, or is it director's cut only?

    Ben,

from the announcements I've seen for various regions it'll be the Director's Cut only. Another film where seamless branching would have been a fantastic option.

I'll be extremely interested in reading the One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest reviews too. The original DVD has one of those transfers, where you go "Well, it looks kinda good, it's got color!" but some scenes are really scuzzy and grainy, when they really shouldn't be. I have never seen the Criterion Laserdisc, but it was THX, so I'm not sure what Warner used back in 1997 for the DVD.
Is this new SE of Cuckoo's Nest a digitally restored and remastered edition? Like Warner's North By Northwest, Citizen Kane, Dr Zhivago etc? I know they restored Amadeus's picture quality, but I have not heard what they did with the Cuckoo's Nest transfer. It has 5.1 but does it have the original mono? Or no, wait - the original 1975 cinema prints were 2 track stereo, I believe. So was The Man Who Would Be King and Warner gave us 1 track mono! Duh! And it's a flipper. Good transfer though.
I hope that Warner release their 2 Disc Special Editions in the next two weeks, they look too good to wait for now! [IMG]
    Happy days...

I too wish they had used branching for the new DVD. I want that new transfer...and I want to see the D.C...but I also want the option to watch the "sans nudity" original version with the kids in the family. Would have been a perfect dual-DVD set!!!
