The light output on my Magnavox fp5250w101 RPTV is noticably low. I think it may need new CRT's. Its about 9 years old. Where can I find replacement parts and is it worth it?

thanks,

Are you maxed out on contrast?

It's possible the tubes are extremely heavily worn, but even with a 9-year old set unless you use it extremely heavily, i doubt this is the case. however, other things in the tubes can get damaged, or electronics elsewhere may be going.

It may be worth checking out if it is a very nice set, but the costs of retubing if the phosphor is worn, or the filaments got fried or something is probably not worth it, especially since it's an old set that probably doesn't do hi-def. If this is the case, you're way better off buying a new set, as tubes can be very pricey, if they are readily available for your set anymore, which I have no idea.
