I was under the impression that Fox had lost the rights to "The Enemy Below" in R1. Have they reacquired them?

Excellent wish lists folks! I'll start working on adding them shortly.

That is an excellent question. I'll try and get confirmation on this rumor. Even if Fox required the rights (or have plans to) I still would think they would market it as one of their 'War Classics' titles and not as one of their 'Studio Classics'.

We have re acuired the rights to The Enemy Below and it will be a FoxWar Classics.

Film Noir will be coming to DVD this year, in a series similar to the Studio Classics line. It will not debut until much later in the year. It will follow a similar release pattern as long as sales hold up.

Thanks for your patience and interest,

    Peter

I see at least three of those dvd I want to get. I'm not a big fan of "What Price Glory" even with James Cagney in it. That film never really clicked for me.

Is it the 1952 John Ford What Price Glory with James Cagney or Raoul Walsh's 1926 What Price Glory with Victor McLaglen and Dolores Del Rio? Fox owns the rights to both.

Fox might own the rights to both films, but it's the Cagney film that's being released.

Fox is doing a great job in getting so many great movies out to us with such awesome pricing. They for me are turning into a poor mans Criterion. The recent re-pricing of the Studio Classics line has these wonderful extra laden discs going for 12 to 14 Canadian dollars. The war classics and great titles like Quest for Fire,Vanishing Point are streeting at 10 or 11 bucks. They are certainly at least in Canada the fairest priced studio that puts out quality product. Now we get a noir series! Kudos all around at Fox and thanks for posting Peter.Another big thanks for getting my copy of Sunrise out to me in two weeks !

Home Theater Info's cancellation list shows The Enemy Below as cancelled on 9 March 2004.

That's the second announcement-and-cancellation for this title that I can remember. What gives?

(Edited to change May to March: thanks to Robert Crawford for the correction.)

I think you mean March 9th, I haven't heard a thing about the cancellation, but that doesn't mean it's not true. I changed the title of this thread in hope of Fox responding to it.

What Price Glory is not vintage Ford (or vintage Cagney), Oscar (but I'll probably still get it [IMG] )

Does not matter, John Ford pictures are always good.

I would like to see more silents from him like The Iron Horse
