I'm looking at the DIY speaker route and I was wondering what are the benefits(if any) sound wise, between a MTM or a TM speaker layout, if I am using the same tweets and mids?

I had MT speakers and switched to MTM mainly for more output. I beleive the D'Appolito design also has a wider sound stage but output was my biggest reason. I went from a single 6.5" to dual 5".

MTMs have less vertical/horizontal dispersion for better imaging on, and slightly off, axis due to less floor/ceiling reflections, hence better power response, and why they're preferred for HT.
