First, let me put up a white flag and say, this is not meant to be taken as a religious question. I was just wondering about it, and wanted to check if anyone knew the answer? [IMG]
Because, I'd sure like to know!

    life just 'is'

there is no 'meaning' or 'purpose' to your existence, you just 'are'

    sorry

now that you have accepted that you have no greater purpose or that there is no meaning to life, you can go about your business and attempt to pursue those things that make you happiest, always remembering that you can do anything you want that makes you happy so long as you don't infringe upon another or get caught by the local authorities enforcing some stupid law that other people with no meaning or purpose have erected in their vain attempts to think they have meaning and purpose...

42 is only good if you are using the imperial system. In metric it is 53. Hope this helps.
    Oh and also cheese doodles.

In the simplest terms: CHOICES. Do you love or hate? Are you happy or angry? Do you give or take? Etc, etc, etc... [IMG]

If mankind’s technology ever becomes advanced enough to create an event such as the “Big Bang” outside of our own universe, should we do it? If so, why? Perhaps to allow billions of civilizations to evolve and experience life?
Mankind is not sure how our universe was created although every person on this planet has a personal belief.
If it was created by a natural, unthinking phenomenon then perhaps there was no intended meaning to our lives.
If it was created by thinking beings or being then there is an intended meaning to our lives and those that created the universe know what that meaning is.
Even if the universe was created by a natural phenomenon, we can still give our lives meaning.
The meaning I choose is "to live".

The meaning of life is too complicated for the human mind to comprehend. It would be like trying to teach your dog, calculus. I must admit, I stole that line from some on the this forum. Can't remember who. I just love that line so much. It says it all.

To live your life to the fullest of your ability, and through that seemingly selfish goal, advance your species.
That, and memorizing the lyrics to 'Its the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)'. [IMG]

If you believe in God-then its a test.

If not, then were just here and there is no meaning other than the one you give it.

Easy on the religion references, guys. I know what you're saying, but you know how swiftly things can get out of hand. Thanks!

    Okay, seriously. Heres my take:
This is a quote that I adore:
"So, your adventures are over? No, to live, to live will be an awlfully big adventure!" That somes it up!

The meaning of life is to live.
Live your life today as if it were going to end tomorrow.
Laugh, cry, get angry, laugh again and carry on. [IMG]
