The complete Perry Mason Movie Collection. Perry Mason 50th anniversary Set
Charmed: Season 1
The 100: Season 5
Both on Blu-Ray
Most (all?) of my TVonDVD BF purchases have arrived. Here's the haul:
Vikings S5V1 ($10)
Big Bang Theory S11 ($10)
Perry Mason S7V2, S8/V1, S8/V2 ($8 each)
Saved by the Bell - Complete collection ($24 - got mostly for Good Morning Miss Bliss the official S1 that's never been available before and it has the post SbtB series The College Years plus the 2 movies. Even though I own the previous DVD releases of the series it was worth it for the new stuff.)
Lavern and Shirley S1 ($6 - I've never been too fond of this one and purchased mostly to show my grandson the open so he'll "get" the "Wayne's World" bit that mirrors it. Yeah... I probably could have just looked it up on youtube but for $6... why not?)
Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In S4 ($16 - I really don't care about the complaints about resolution/improper transfers as so far it's looked quite good and I'm happy with it.)
Black Sails - Complete collection ($24 - the BR set was $4 more than the S4 DVD I needed to complete the series so I purchased it instead. Upgrade bonus.)
Ash vs. Evil Dead - Complete collection ($20 - only $2 more than S3 alone - the only season I needed. Like Black Sails, a better value even though I got dups in the process. No upgrade as my S1 & S2 sets are BR.)
Warner Archive is currently having a brief sale (40% off!) on multi-disc sets, including TV series. As a result, I just ordered:
A Man Called Shenandoah: Complete Series
Shazzan: Complete Series
Unfortunately, Mr. Novak: Season 1 is too new of a disc release to be included in the sale, or I would've grabbed that, too.
I did take the opportunity to pre-order Popeye: The 1940s Vol. 1 (color Famous Studios cartoons) on Blu-ray, but I personally don't consider collections of theatrical shorts a "TV series", even though many of them did eventually air on TV... unless, of course, someone put disc sets of formatted-for-TV stuff like the prime-time Bugs Bunny Show ("Overture... cut the lights...") or The Woody Woodpecker Show (hosted by Walter Lantz).
I believe it’s “Overture, curtain, lights...”, or I have been singing it wrong forever!
Season 5 of “Perfect Strangers” from WBSHop while they’re having a 40% off sale!
Overture, curtains, lights,
This is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtains, lights
This is it, you'll hit the heights
And oh what heights we'll hit
On with the show this is it
Tonight what heights we'll hit
On with the show this is it!
Thanks for the heads-up about the Warner archive sale, Peter! Might take advantage of that...
Amazon had some VEI sets marked down to 23% off, so I grabbed Longstreet and The Immortal for around $23 each. I also picked up The High Chaparral S1. More Christmas presents to myself, from myself.
Bear in mind, up until recently, I thought (purely from half-listening to it on the radio for years) that the main "Big ol' jet airliner" lyric to popular Steve Miller Band tune, "Jet Airliner", was "Big hotel with the light on", and from England Dan & John Ford Coley's "I Really Want to See You Tonight", the lyric, "I'm not talking about moving in", was "I'm not talking about your linen", so...
There was a pop song on the radio called “Even the bad times are good!” when I was in highschool.
My best friend was convinced it was “Even the bagpipes are good!”
The Powers of Matthew Star (VEI all-in-one of this 1982-83 NBC sci-fi series [w/Peter Barton and Louis Gossett, Jr.]); looking forward to enjoying this one as much as Benjamin Edge (ClassicTVMan1981X) has been enjoying it!
The Outer Limits - S2 BR
Combat! - S1 (the LA Entertainment release)
Death Valley Days - S14 (The Ronald Regan Years Collection - Year 2)
Just yesterday I bought Hanna-Barbera's The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1968-69).
Dan August - Complete Series - arriving tomorrow
Mr. Novak - Season 1
I'm sure you'll enjoy them both! I'm going to get that Dan August one sooner or later.
John Mellencamp had a hit in '89 called Pop Singer. The line went "Pop Singer, pop song", but I was sure he was singing "Bob Seger, Bob's song".
Outer Limits, Season 2, and TONIGHT, Mr. NOVAK. I'm pumped for that one. Never thought I'd see it on any format.
Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (BR upgrade)
Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery (BR)
The Time Tunnel - Complete Collection (BR upgrade)
The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1968-69), but it is still in transit (now at my local post office)... should have it this coming Monday (12/10)!
The Andy Griffith Show: Season 1 on blu-ray. Amazon had it for $13.79.
