Love this show but too bad about the awful prints & audio. Since everything is going "streaming digital" (I don't think I ever will) now instead of reg. physical DVD products, I thought I'd better snatch these up as I doubt we'll see this series released again.

Picked up Psych seasons 3 and 4 for $15 each at Best Buy. Yay. First time I've seen them anywhere for less than $50.

Have only seen one episode of Psych, the first episode in which Cary Elwes guest starred as a suave art thief. Shall be getting the fifth season sometime down the line because of the Twin Peaks homage episode "Dual Spires".

It's a good fun show, lots and lots of references to 80s movies, every episode title is a pun or play on an 80s or 90s TV show or movie. I'd recommend checking out the first 2-3 episodes.

I am forced to buy a new copy of Combat! Season 1, Volume 1 because for the first time in a couple years I took out an episode from my Complete Series boxed set, played the first episode and was starting the second when I discovered freezing. Took it out and saw the ugliest disc surface I have EVER seen. Either I never noticed this originally (since I had upgraded to the boxed set years ago) or else this is the worst case of disc rot I have ever seen set in on a DVD though all other discs appear to be fine.

Jack, thanks for this info! That show's tied as #1 on my collector list. I happened to pull out the S1 V2 set last week and watched a couple of eps. Those played ok but I'll check those individual Image sets this week. Appreciate this post. I never upgraded to that complete box set but have eyed it more than a few times. It's the same set, content-wise, as the individual sets, to my understanding but better packaging, as far as shelf space.

I've seen some discoloration with other sets as well, mostly in some of my "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie" sets. I've spot-checked some of the "milkier" looking discs but so far, no playback issues encountered. If I recall, there was some in-depth discussions several years ago about a particular vendor's plastic casings possibly causing chemical outgassing that was the source of the "milk" signature on those Sony discs. I haven't noticed that discoloration in my other sets but haven't spot-checked them in a while.

It could well be this was just a bad disc from the beginning in this boxed set. I had originally bought S1 V1 and then upgraded and I may not have ever rewatched this particular disc when I first got the boxed set and hence never bothered to check. Thankfully the show has never gone out of print and I would never have had to get a new complete set!
Of course this kind of makes one think of what will happen if something like this happens in the upcoming Fugitive set and the options for fixing are not the same as with this show! :)

Well, my bad news just got worse. I checked all the other discs in the boxed set and what did I find but the SAME disc rotting on the *first* disc for ALL five seasons! This can not be a coincidence. There is clearly something amiss with how these discs were first packaged in these things or else something unique to that placement in the case, though since this is made from a hard plastic in the "flip" style I have no idea what could cause a breakdwon just there. At any rate with one disc ruined in *five* sets effectively that renders this entire set now worthless from my standpoint and I have to think of a new strategy of how to replace them.

I didn't know that Batfink was released. That was another of my favorites from my childhood.
