The first film that I remember seeing was Dark Star. I saw it a drive-in with my parents in 1974. I would have been eight years old. I'm sure I saw movies before that, but DS was the first one to make a lasting impression on me. The image of those guys stranded in space. One of them drifting off, another "surfing" into the atmosphere. Cool... [IMG]

I dunno know about first movie ever, but I remember the first one I saw in a theater: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. One of the greatest memories of my life. I was 8, and it was terrifying.

The first one I remember actually getting to watch at a theater (other than watching while peeking out the top window of the camper with no sound) was White Line Fever. We actually got to sit in the cab of the truck for that one.

While attending Catholic grammar school, the nuns took us to see The Sound Of Music. I remember sitting towards the front of the theater. Seeing the opening helicopter shot, panning the mountaintops to the close-up of Maria, left me awe-struck. I guess that's when I first fell in love with movies.
    That's a nice memory.

First one I can remember in a theater: The Sound of Music on its first run.
First one I can remember on television: The Revenge of Frankenstein from about the same time. That scene where he has the eyes and hand in the tank of fluid is the earliest television memory I have.

The first movie I remember seeing in a theater is Logan's Run. I was so impressed by this movie that I never forgotten it. If I'm not mistaken, this movie came out one year before Star Wars.

In theater: 101 Dalmations (the original)

At home: The Tarzan movies (with Johnny, of course) - they showed on Saturday afternoon matinees when I was a kid growing up in Minneapolis.

Young Frankenstein, but it must have been during a re-release. I'd be too young to remember seeing it in 1974, as I was only 3.

I think the first movie I went to see in a theater was either The Sting or Jesus Christ Superstar. I can't remember which but I believe I saw both of them in the same year. I was only 7 at the time and I begged my aunt to let me go with her and my sister and I was able to see both. Amzingly I did enjoy both even as a 7 year old.

But, the most memorable movie I saw was Jaws when I was just 10 or 11. I can't believe my parents brought me to see that. I wouldn't go near water for years and was even afraid to go near a toilet for a couple of days.
