Can anybody tell me where and how much they paid for the denon 4802. I am curious about authorized and unauthorized dealers.

    Thanks

I am almost ready to pull the trigger I just want to make sure I have all available info.

I got mine in March of this year for $2030 at my local audio store (Denon Authorized Seller). Their list price was $2499.

I saw it for $2499.00 at circuit city(I assume they are authorized) and my local authorized dealer I demo'd it just this afternoon. He would sell it to me for $2099.

    Awesome unit!.....someday....

Got mine NIB in December for $1700 from an authorized dealer. It's normally in the $2000 range. It was an end of year inventory reduction sale and I couldn't say no at that price.

FWIW, I've seen them go in the FOR SALE section for about $1500 with the remote and $1100 without it. Of course, these are used. But that's certainly the only way I'll ever get into a receiver of this calibur.

Bought mine for $1,800 at Sound Distributors online. Unauthorized dealer, but i couldn't conceive spending the full $2,499 on this, and do far not a single problem or glitch. I got lucky.

I paid $1700 for mine, auhtorized dealer. He hooked me up and made me promise not to reveal from who, just gave me this price. If want to keep getting good deals I intend to keep my promise.

I paid $1675 a few weeks ago from a dealer that's listed on Denon's site as an authorized online dealer. Their website listed it at the retail price of $2499. At first I was told the best they could do was $2,000 but when I mentioned I had seen it for $1,650 + $100 shipping my salesperson told me he could match the price and only charged me $25 shipping.

They even double boxed the receiver, which showed up in a factory sealed box.

My suggestion is shop around, find the best price you can find (authorized or not) and ask. They worst thing they can do is say no.

FYI - The receiver is awesome.

The price difference between the 3802 and 4802 is
substantial. I'm wondering exactly makes it so much
more expensive? Is it the fact it's THX? Power is
similar, features are more extensive, but it does seem
to be a bit of an "overstep" in price.

I just purchased the Denon 4802 from an Authorized reseller online. After hearing the horror stories concerning no warranty and so forth...
I was going to go with Ebay but recently but a loss of $4300 to a bad G4 / Cinema Screen Seller has kept me away. Arrrghhh!
I see some bogus sales of Denon on their now.
I called the online company and told them what the other non-authorized sellers were selling it for. They sold it to me for $1800.00 shipped with full double warranty. It is worth the piece of mind to pay the extra 100-200$. Also, if you look at their ads online they have it at $2495.00 I guess that is because of the agreement with Denon. If you want to email me, I will give you the info on where I purchased. I wont post it here as I dont want to get anyone into trouble. I still want a set of Paradigms off this company!
    All take care!
    Kip
