What's the deal with acrylic panels for enclosures? Are they better than wood? (1 Viewer)

I've read a couple of comments where people imply that using acrylic (plexiglas?) enclosures can add dB's to the frequency response.

Is this true? Can I just add a plexiglas panel to my box and have it sound better automatically? I could do it... my subs magnet is kinda pretty ;)

Thanks for your help!

Javier,

Yeah we came off with some pretty convincing information
why it did... But it was all BS :)

LOL :D

Seriously though... I heard that Using Goat Foreskin as
a membrane for a tweeter is far superior than any natural
silk or doped cloth available.. The only problem is that
it's hard to harvest.. When you come at the goat with
a pair of sharp scisors they tend to run, fast...

Bwahahahah!

Right - I can't begin to go into the downside complexities of goat foreskin tweeter domes. You may have noticed that I've long touted the superiority of the foreskin of the Tibetan Yak. Incredible soundstage.

The only problem with the Foreskin tweeters is when the really large resonance peak rears its ugly head.
