Yes, a good film and Kennedy is similar to Robert Ryan as being very underrated for their acting performances.

Kennedy was also nominated for the Oscar for this role. You know I had a baby crush on Adams, so I saw this movie on the screen in my very early years (not 1951!).

It's been on Netflix for months, but I only tonight got around to watching Murder Mystery, a comic whodunit with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. The characters are SO unbelievable; nobody in the real world behaves this way, and most of the comedy doesn't work. The murder mystery aspect of the story works OK. It's a decent puzzle.

I understand the stars will be doing another of these for Netflix.

Memories of the Olympic Summer of 1952 (Criterion BD) The third and final installment of the 1952 Helsinki Summer Olympics. In color. Some new footage, some retreads, but gorgeous looking nonetheless.
On the Beach at Night Alone (Criterion Channel) 2017. Sang-Soo Hong directed this Korean film starring Min-hee Kim, who scored a Silver Bear at Venice for this performance. Long-held shots, minimal camera movements, lots of dialogue, interesting dissection of human relationships.
Anna (Summit 4K UHD) 2019. Luc Besson's shoot-'em-up spy vs. spy. Kept me awake.

I’ve seen that one as well. No stinking desire to revisit it, and might prefer never to have seen it to begin with.

Getting ready to rewatch John Wick 3 on 4K blu-ray this weekend after I hook up the Emotiva power amp and rerun Audyssy. Will be a movie marathon this coming weekend with a number of movies being horror movies for the October scary movie challenge.

Thanks for the heads up John.
It wouldn't be the first movie I've stopped because of plot or content and it most likely won't be the last!!

I watch plenty of movies with despicable characters in them, but the theme of that one is just too repulsive for my tastes.

The Bold and the Brave (Optimum Region 2 PAL DVD) 1956. Mickey Rooney's last AA nomination. Presented in the wrong AR. WW 2 drama with an insufferable character named "Preacher" with a stick up his ass.
Highway West (TCM) 1941. WB B-programmer with Arthur Kennedy and Brenda Marshall. Remake of Heat Lightning.
The Hoodlum (TCM) 1951. A PD dupe of very poor quality showcasing the Tierney brothers, Lawrence and Edward. Standard gangster story.
    EDIT;
Matt Hough corrected me on the next post regarding Rooney's last nomination. Thanks, Matt.

Not quite right. He was nominated for The Black Stallion in 1979.

Oops! Forgot about that one. It was the one Rooney nomination that I had not yet seen.

You haven't seen "The Black Stallion" yet? Wow, you need to rectify that situation as it's a really good film. Carroll Ballard did a fine directing job with that film as well as with "Never Cry Wolf" and "Fly Away Home".

Yeah, he was all screwed up as he certainly didn't have a problem with killing people.

No, no, I meant The Bold and the Brave as my missing picture. I've seen all the Carroll Ballard films you reference.

I watched that same disc the other day together with Ambush. Two interesting films with Don Taylor playing two very different characters.
