Earned a $3 Vudu credit on my next purchase by watching one of their free with ads movies, and I chose Waiting for Guffman. It's not the all-time Christopher Guest classic that Best in Show is, but it's really funny and precious and endearing. I only have it on DVD, so it was nice streaming it in HD.

I'll be watching last night's Elementary for sure, and then I have a host of other things to choose from that I have set aside but haven't gotten to in the last few days due to review considerations and some unexpected interruptions.

From the Noir Archive Collection Volume 2 (Mill Creek BD):
Footsteps in the Fog Good British crime melodrama starring favorite Jean Simmons and Stewart Granger. Is this the same master used by Indicator? It's not very good in spots and at the 25" mark it is unwatchable for the misalignment of colors. It lasts a few minutes. It's watchable, but...
Spin a Dark Web Now this IS a film noir with a femme fatale, the great Faith Domergue (another favorite), leading the poor sap to his downfall. Will he escape the fatal web? Not bad.
Rumble on the Docks Introducing James Darren. On the Waterfront meets the Sharks vs the Jets. It has a dance at the gym, two rumbles and it does precede WSS.
Sophie's Journey (Netflix HD) Based on the true story of a prepubescent Jewish girl who has to lead a group of Jewish children across the border from France to Switzerland, with Vichy French and Nazis at their heels. Amazing tale.

I picked up quite a few blu's from Warner with their 4 for $44 sale, and picked Jonny Quest up along with the sale items.
Brought back great memories, and looked really good. I am going to try to ration out the episodes and not binge.

The Monolith Monsters (Scream BD) Viewed the 2.0 ratio. Very nice encoding of an effective sci-fi from my childhood. Lola Albright is just wasted here as mere eye candy (but who's complaining?).
Jack and the Cuckoo-clock Heart (Shout BD) Affecting animated film from France. An adult love story with music.

Three movies from the Noir Archive Film Collection Volume 2 (Mill Creek BD):
The Night Holds Terror With a whiff of The Desperate Hours, effective thriller with John Cassavetes and Vince Edwards and cold-blooded killers.
New Orleans Uncensored Redolent of On the Waterfront in New Orleans. Starring fave Beverly Garland but not as the femme fatale. Good film.
Five against the House Directed by the great Phil Karlson. Slow burn but builds to an effective climax. Kim Novak looks gorgeous. Brian Keith gets top honors.

Enemy of the State is one of those movies that sneaked up on me. I didn't really know anything about it and just dialed it in on HBO many years ago, and then I sat riveted for the next two hours. I haven't watched my Blu-ray in a while, but I certainly need a revisit soon.

As for my viewing today, I have some things I DVRed over the last couple of days I need to watch and wipe off the drive, and I have both Instinct and Grantchester tonight to pick from (naturally, with almost the entire summer schedule filled with reruns, these new episodes air in the same time period).

Start the Revolution without Me (TCM app) The cast was game and made it fairly clever and amusing.
The People against O'Hara (TCM app) Would that this had been restored to John Alton HD glory! Good cast and story.
Dracula Prince of Darkness (Scream BD) Drac still hasn't learned to speak in this follow up to the '58 classic. Good presentation. Saw this way back when it was new.

Yesterday I watched Hold Back The Dawn for the second time in five days. This is such a good film and I'm so pleased it has been released on good Blu-ray disc.

It set me thinking about other Charles Boyer films in my collection and my first thought was Tales From Manhattan where he co-stars with Rita Hayworth and Thomas Mitchell. That in turn reminded me of Angels Over Broadway where Hayworth and Mitchell combine with Douglas Fairbanks Jnr and John Qualen. So I watched that instead. The film was directed by the writer Ben Hecht whose mishandling of Rita Hayworth and Douglas Fairbanks showed why Mitchell Leisen was a good director. I think I'll watch Midnight in the next few days!

In the mood for mindless action so I chose Olympus Has Fallen and followed up with London Has Fallen.

Have been slowly working our way through Stranger Things 3.

LOL! I was complaining about having two summer shows air opposite one another when so many other summer time slots are available, and it turns out I didn't get to see either due to unforeseen circumstances. I'll watch both today.

The Body Snatcher (Scream/Shout BD) Remarkable transfer of an excellent film, last viewed in a beautiful 35mm print a million years ago. Holds up very well.
The Trouble with Angels (Criterion app) Revisited this delightful film in a great transfer. Ably directed by Ida Lupino and featuring a cast of wonderful old timers.
