I was just going to post that we also watched this over the weekend. I was so looking forward to it due to my love of Pooh, I grew up watching the old school movies and cartoons. Sadly this didn't live up to any of those. :(

great doc looking back, really wish that Fox would have released this in HD like the X-Files, you forget how dark this show was emotionally,

Funny thing. As I was watching the film play out, I kept thinking to myself "I KNOW that voice! I know it! Who is she?!?" I finally figured it out. I was sure she was Glynis Johns. It's a near identical match for Mrs. Banks from Mary Poppins. I was really kinda surprised to learn that I was wrong. :D It's such a rare event (ask my wife!).

Another funny thing...Tom Jones (another film I had never watched before) came in 2nd to Kind Hearts as our film-to-watch last night. I'd have seen Joan either way. I am now anticipating my viewing of Tom Jones for a completely different reason!

Glynis Johns, another attractive actress that I've come to appreciate over the years.

We found it OK. The film focused on the family so it really wasn't a Pooh movie but just another Saving Mr. Banks but not as well done. Worth the watch for us but not on the rewatch pile.

We watched the new one not too long ago so we thought we'd go back for the original. Like them both (as well as the TV version) all for different reasons.

We both enjoyed it very much.

One of our favorite movies of all time is Doubt. This was similar in the way it shaded the mystery of what's really going on with the main character. Right through to the end, it leaves you wondering what is really causing things to go wrong around these characters.

Was it a health issue on the male side of the family? Or was she really an evil golddigger? One minute you're THIS way. The next minute you're THAT way. :D

Burton was a little stiff. DeHavilland had more to do (and kept you guessing). Direction by Koster was excellent. The telling of the story was a little stodgy--old-fashioned in a romantic melodramatic way. But that's what you'd expect for a 1952 telling of a Du Maurier tale.

Now we're both thinking we should check out the 2017 version with Rachel Weisz to see what the story looks like being told with current-day sensibilities.

Tonight I dug out the DVD of Murder with Mirrors with Helen Hayes and Bette Davis. This was Davis' first work after her strokes and her double mastectomy and was very unsure of herself. According to Helen Hayes' memoirs, Bette gave her and the rest of the company a very hard time, not out of meanness but mainly from not feeling well and her unsteadiness with her lines and attempting to remember to hit her marks, etc. Though the TV-movie is entertaining and the unpleasantness behind the scenes didn't translate to on-screen, it's hard to see her so frail and meek. John Mills plays Bette's husband in the film.

As a side note, this is one of the great titles that the track was "dumbed down" from the 35mm SRD/DTS track for the Blu Ray release. No comparison!

Ah! I like that film. I'll be watching it again fairly soon.

Yesterday I had another viewing of The Tall Men which I've always enjoyed. Clark Gable was every inch a movie star!

A review item came in today that's going to occupy the next three days or so, so Eddie will have to wait until I'm finished with my review project.

All movies where from 4K Blu-ray and the Marantz sounds great! Have had my Marantz SR-8012 for a little over a month and I couldn't be happier with it. The Halloween movie never looked so good and looks incredible and I highly recommend it to any horror fans out there! The Dolby True HD track is a treat and I feel it being decoded as Auro adds a little something as the audio is very crisp and dynamic!

I, too, have seen each of these three films in 4K, Dave, and I can echo your enthusiasm for Halloween which looked and sounded the best it ever has. The other two are also exhilarating movie watching experiences.

I watched Those Redheads From Seattle last night. A good disc with an interesting interview with Rhonda Fleming who looked a few years younger than she had any right to look! As I have my 3D projector set up, I'll have another look at Sangaree tonight.
