The last I heard, he had been totally cleared of all charges and was living happily with Jessica ... :)
Uh ... Oh! I guess you're asking about the rumored Vista series re-issue?
Haven't heard a thing ...

I chatted with Jerry Beck, cartoon historian, recently. He's doing some documentary work for the Vista Series of WFRR, and he says it's coming along just fine. He says it's going to be an all-out bells-and-whistles release...and I think that since it's Vista Series, that'll be good.

Sincerely,

John "Hoping that the bells and whistles include the making-of that aired on CBS, the Diet Coke commercial and the 555-TOON sketch from the Kathleen Turner/Billy Joel SNL episode of 1989" Kilduff

I'd venture a guess that following last years model of (Unbreakable July, Sixth Sense/Tombstone January) it will street sometime in january, possibly with either a Signs vista series or another catalog (probably last ten to twenty years) vista title. I'll buy them regardless, the vista series has been nothing but high quality presentation and extras on every release so far, maybe not always reference, but extremely good, regardless. (plus they have dts!)

It may be obvious, but I'll say it anyway. I really, really, really hope they include the Roger Rabbit shorts as well. A friend of mine has got the PAL laserdisc with the shorts, and they're absolutely hysterical.

I can't wait to finally buy this title on DVD. My requirements are:

* Unedited
* Anamorphic

My preferences are:
* Cartoon Shorts
* Commentary
* DTS
* Deleted Scenes
* Book to Film comparison
* Making of Documentaries.
- Particularly information about clearing all of the characters.

That's not what I heard -- Jessica is tired of Roger's fading career and is having an affair with the Lion King -- at least he's on Broadway! If an anamorphic Roger Rabbit DVD is not in the offing a divorce may be. ;)

I still wish they could make the sequel for this film. They said for a few years that Men in Black could never be sequelled because of the costs, and that was the excuse with Roger (mostly clearance rights) but you'd think by today they could cut a deal and make it happen. Roger still has life in him!

Yeah, especially since Gary K. Wolf has the third book finished but has been sitting on it for years since it'll make more for him if released in conjunction with another movie.
And, geez, Who P-p-p-p-plugged Roger Rabbit would make a great film...

I am under the impression we'll never see a Roger Rabbit
sequel because Speilberg will not allow it to happen.

What does Spielberg have to do with Roger? (I've not followed any of the WFRR business).
UHF this summer. Ernest movies in the near future. Roger Rabbit maybe early next year. It's going to be good times for classic comedies! :D

I don't think Spielberg can do anything to stop a Roger Rabbit sequel other than make threats. He doesn't own any of the characters in the original.

Actually, Spielburg OWNS half of Roger Rabbit, Disney owns the other half. I remember reading a few years ago that Disney can't release anything Roger-related without Spielberg's consent, as part of the original agreement. And I remember something about Speilberg and Disney arguing over one of the shorts that was going to be shown before a big Disney release, but Speilberg wanted it for one of his movies, so niether got to show it. I also remember the wierd deals with Warner bros...that Bugs bunny could only be in scenes WITH Mickey, no more no less. I don't know if warner would consent to leasing their charectors out to Disney again. I'm gonna do a search, and find out exactly what happened, but that's what I remember reading.
