Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (Special Collector’s Edition) for 20th June 2006 priced at $19.99 SRP. Gilbert Grape (Johnny Depp) takes care of his autistic brother Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his obese mother, which gets in the way when love walks into his life.

Excellent. The recently released region 2 edition was a so-so fullframe transfer, to my great disappointment, so I had to pass. Sven Nykvist's cinematography deserves better, frankly.
